The Eutectic men's tennis team suffered its fourth loss of the season on Friday against AMC member Lindenwood University-Belleville, 9-0, at Tower Grove Park in St. Louis.
Court 3 doubles duo Sheldon Tayler and Corey Thompson (JR/Washington, Ind.) played the closest doubles match, falling 8-5 to LUB's Mohamed Shamell and Jared Hatton. At No. 1, Rahul Jilakara (FR/Glen Allen, Va.) and Logan Mathies (FR/Jasper, Ind.) lost 8-3 to Rory Cunliffe and Basile de Raemy, while Justin Wiegal and Luke Winchester (JR/Ottowa, Ill.) fell 8-1 to Horacio Callirgos Cespedes and Lucas Roman.
Down 3-0, the Eutectics fought hard individually, but could not come up with a win on the singles courts. Taylor earned the most games of the Eutectic players at No. 6, falling 6-4, 6-2 to Shamell. Mathies and Wiegal each won four games against opponents Cunliffe and Roman at Courts 2 and 3. Callirgos Cespedes won the No. 1 court over Jilakara, 6-2, 6-1, while Martin Gonzalez defeated Thompson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, and Alberto Beybach Munoz allowed only one game from Winchester at No. 5.
The Eutectics are now 8-4 (0-3 AMC). This Friday, April 21, the STLCOP team hosts Webster University at Tower Grove Park at 3 p.m.
