The Eutectic women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season last night at Principia College in Elsah, Ill., 6-0.
Both teams took the field with 10 players, as the Eutectics were missing three starters due to injuries.
The Lady Euts got off to a good start taking the first shot of the game, but as the Principia Panthers stepped it up, taking 16 shots in the first half, the Euts did not get another chance. 30 minutes in, Prin's Chrissy Frederickson scored off an assist from Clarice Bruch to put the Panthers ahead 1-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, the Panthers picked up the pace, driving five goals past the Eutectic defense and goalkeeper Kylee Lewis (FR/Fisk, Mo.) in 20 minutes. The Eutectics got three more shots off, but could not find the net.
Lewis racked up 12 saves in the game. Principia goalkeeper Brooke Engel collected two saves and the shutout for the Panthers.
Now 2-1, the Eutectics will begin conference play next week when they host Park University on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at SLUH.
