The No. 10-ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans defeated the Eutectic volleyball team in straight sets tonight in Chesterfield. The Euts improved their score in each set, but ultimately lost 25-13, 25-15, 25-21.
The Spartans (19-3, 6-0 AMC) had 49 kills to the Eutectics' 24, and hit at 30% compared to STLCOP's 14%. MBU collected 53 digs to STLCOP's 33, along with seven service aces.
Cassady Reno (FR/O'Fallon, Ill.) continued her trend of leading the STLCOP team on the offensive front. She converted seven of 13 attack attempts to kills, averaging .462 for hitting percentage. Kacie Kinnikin (FR/Belleville, Ill.) set up 21 assists, while Kate Toler (SR/DuQuoin. Ill.) collected 12 digs.
MBU's Marion Courand, named AMC Attacker of the Week last week, lived up to her title, racking up 14 kills from 29 attempts. Setter Rachel Poole recorded 29 assists, while Mary Grace Masters had 13 digs.
The Eutectics, now 2-11 (0-5 AMC), will travel to Paragould, Ark., for a tri-match versus Crowley's Ridge College and Welch College on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 12 and 2 p.m.
