In a physical game, the Eutectic men's soccer team came out on top, defeating the Lincoln Christian University Red Lions for the second time this year. The 2-1 victory was at the Red Lions' home field in Lincoln, Ill., yesterday.
After a scoreless, but chippy, first half, Eutectic newcomer Debo Omaloja scored a header off an assist from Nedzad Idrizovic (SO/Oakville, Mo.) to put STLCOP in the lead. 11 minutes later, Adis Sahbaz (SR/St. Louis, Mo.) scored off a punch from goalkeeper Pedro Salgueiro (SO/Belo Horizonte, Brazil) to make it 2-0. The Red Lions got on the board in the final three minutes with a goal by Keaton Doty, assisted by Joshua Diaz and Joseph Baldridge.
Salgueiro picks up the win, collecting two saves along the way, while LCU keeper Michael Brand made six saves and takes the loss.
The win over LCU marks the Eutectics' second official victory of the season. They head into Saturday's AMC matchup with William Woods University (8-2-2, 5-0 AMC) with a 2-6 record (0-4 AMC). The Euts will host the WWU Owls at SLUH on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m.
