No shocker here: Lohman is AMC Pitcher of the Week

ST. LOUIS, MO - Coming off a record-setting performance on Saturday, Barrett Lohman was named the American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 24-Mar. 2. Lohman was electric on the mound against Harris-Stowe setting a new school record for strikeouts in a game in a 14-0 UHSP victory. Lohman fanned 15 Hornets while scattering just four hits in a complete game shutout performance to even his record to 2-2 on the year.

The Eutectics' righthander struck out the side three different times in the game as he set down a trio of Hornets in each the second, fourth and sixth innings via the strikeout. Lohman gave up a leadoff single to start the game, a two-out single in the third and a two-out double in the sixth. The only time in the game that HSSU had multiple runners aboard was in the fifth. A double to start the frame was followed by a UHSP error to put runners at first and second with nobody out. A key strikeout by Lohman held the runners at first and second and an infield pop-out prevented their advancement as well. A groundout ended the frame as Lohman was able to nagivate his only real trouble of the game without issue. Harris-Stowe never had a runner get farther than second base in the game.

Lohman joins battery-mate Ethan Harrell as the only two Eutectics to ever receive the AMC recognition. Harrell began the season with the week one Player of the Week award from the AMC. This week, Jacob Watkins of Williams Baptist was named the AMC's Player of the Week.
