Eutectics split the day with Evangel University on the road
SPRINGFIELD, MO – UHSP opened its series against Evangel with a hard-fought 1-0 shutout victory Friday afternoon at University Field, leaning on dominant pitching and timely pressure to secure the win. The Eutectics and Valor were locked in a scoreless battle through four innings before UHSP broke through in the fifth, plating the game's only run and making it stand behind a combined shutout on the mound.

The opening four innings featured a pitcher's duel, with neither team able to generate much offense.

UHSP struck in the top of the fifth as Carter Lang reached base and advanced around the bases on a pair of Evangel throwing errors, eventually scoring the game's lone run.

Barrett Lohman earned the win in his season debut, tossing five shutout innings while allowing three hits and striking out four.

SPRINGFIELD, MO – UHSP responded with a strong offensive showing in Game 2, but a decisive sixth inning by Evangel proved to be the difference as the Eutectics fell 10-7 later Friday afternoon. After falling behind early, UHSP surged ahead with a seven-run stretch across the fifth and sixth innings before Evangel answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead.

Evangel jumped out in front with three runs in the third inning and added three more in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

UHSP answered in the fifth as Joe Celeste delivered a two-out, two-run double to left field, scoring Noah Harding and Holden Campbell.

Dustin Aleck followed with an RBI single to center to cut the deficit to three.

The Eutectics carried the momentum into the sixth inning.

Nolan Harding drove in two with a single to bring UHSP within one.
