Calmes is top pitcher in the AMC after CG vs Lincoln
ST. LOUIS, MO - The American Midwest Conference announced on Monday that Tristan Calmes was named the AMC Pitcher of the Week for Febuary 16-22. Calmes turned in a sensational performace in his lone start during the counting period to land UHSP their first baseball Player of the Week nod by the AMC this season.
The righthander threw a complete game in a 10-3 triumph over the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Sunday. Calmes needed just 99 pitches to finish off the visitors with 61 strikes in the contest. A leadoff walk came around to score in the third for Lincoln, but the Eutectics held a 7-1 lead at that point. Calmes did not allow multiple base runners in a single inning until the sixth. He saw two cosmetic runs to score in the seventh as he struck out a pair in the final frame. For the game, the native of Curacao struck out ten while walking four, gave up five hits and one of the three runs allowed was unearned.
This is Calmes' second POW award in his career as he was selected on February 10, 2025. This is the fifth time a Eutectic has landed Player of the Week honors by the AMC. Four of those have now gone to pitchers including Calmes and Barrett Lohman twice. Ethan Harrell was the other UHSP Player of the Week recipient which came a season ago.
Calmes was one of six pitchers nominated for the honor by the AMC for the previous week efforts. Along with Calmes, Reece Bariola of Crowley's Ridge was named the Hitter of the Week by the conference.
