Thriller in Springfield as Patriots edge Eutectics in 11 innings

SPRINGFIELD, MO – Ethan Harrell had a three-hit game, Tristan Calmes tossed eight shutout innings but the Eutectic offense could not scratch a run across as a scoreless pitcher's duel spilled into the 11th inning. Mission's Collin Miser delivered a one-out, bases loaded sac fly in the bottom of the 11th to give the Patriots a 1-0 win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

MISSION 1, UHSP 0 (11 INNINGS)

  • UHSP outhit Mission 7-5. Other than Harrell's three hits, Brandon Gibbs, Holden Campbell, Nolan Harding and Caden Buxton had one each. Gibbs' had a two-out single in the tenth that extended his hitting streak to now 15 games. He has reached safely in 22 of the last 23 games.
  • Calmes gave the UHSP bullpen some rest. He was dominant through eight innings allowing just two hits. He did walk seven, but struck out nine.
  • Gavin Long tossed the final 2.2IP giving up the game winning run on three hits, with a pair of walks and three strikeouts.
  • Trey Mulholland was as electric as Calmes as he pitched ten shutout innings, scattering seven hits. He struck out seven and walked one.
  • Zach Still got the win pitching a three-up, three-down 11th.
  • In the bottom of the 11th, after a leadoff single Zachary Beatty set the stage for Miser's heroics with a double to right to put runners at second and third with one out. Mulholland was intentionally walked to load the bases and Miser delivered the sac fly for the walk-off win.
