UHSP Cheer Prepares for Battle at the Big Easy
NEW ORLEANS, LA. – The Eutectic cheer team will open the 2025-26 competition season this Thursday and Friday in New Orleans, La., at the Battle at the Big Easy hosted by Xavier University.
The UHSP team returns to the Big Easy competition looking to improve their eighth-place finish at the event last season.
The Eutectic schedule this spring includes two trips to Columbia, Mo., for the Cougar Classic and the American Midwest Conference (AMC) championships, along with a season-capping trip to Daytona Beac, Fla., for the the National Cheer Association (NCA) Championships.
The Eutectics are also hosting their first-ever home competition: The Arch City Cup on Friday, February 20, in the UHSP gymnasium.
Back in July, at the NCA cheer camp hosted by UHSP, the Eutectic team was awarded a bronze bid to the NCA national championships. The team will travel to Florida for the event from April 8-11.
Head Coach Brianna Wash is excited about the opportunities for her team this year and to compete at the national level.
"We are so excited to achieve our goal of making our NCA Nationals debut!" said Wash. "The team has worked so hard the past few years as a new athletic team on campus, and I'm extremely proud of this team for making it to this point. We can't wait to take our hard work to a bigger stage."
Last season, in the program's third season as a UHSP team, the Eutectics finished fourth of five teams in the AMC championships. The AMC has since added three teams this season to go from five competing teams to eight, including: UHSP, Columbia, Cottey, St. Ambrose, and Langston plus newcomers Oklahoma City, Saint Xavier, and Bismarck State.
