Wash Named AMC Coach of the Year as Eutectics Finish Seventh

COLUMBIA, MO. –  The Eutectic cheer team travelled to Columbia College to compete at the 2026 American Midwest Conference (AMC) competitive cheer championships in the Arena of Southwell Complex on Friday. The Eutectic team finished seventh of eight teams at the event. Head UHSP coach Brianna Wash was selected as AMC Coach of the Year through a vote by head coaches in the Conference. Isaac Gallinero was named to the AMC Champions of Character team.

In the preliminary round, the Eutectics performed a near-perfect routine, earning a score of 73.45 to put them in sixth place heading into the final round. The second routine of the day was not quite as error-free and the UHSP scored a 68.78. Their combined final score of 69.95 put them in seventh place, just behind Saint Xavier University (70.57) and ahead of Cottey College (57.55).

Head Coach Brianna Wash was proud of how her team performed at the championship meet.

"Our goal for today was to have fun and put the best routine out there we could," Wash said. "They had a fantastic routine for Round 1, but made a few errors in Round 2. We ended the day proud of the growth we've had since our first competition and are ready for our NCA debut in a month!"

Wash was selected by the Conference coaches to receive the AMC Coach of the Year award. She is the first Eutectic coach in any sport to receive such an honor from the AMC.

"AMC Coach of the Year is an honor!" said Wash. "I wouldn't be the coach I am without my athletes who have taught me how to be a coach. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to coach this amazing group of athletes."

Senior Isaac Gallinero was named to the AMC Champions of Character team, which recognizes one athlete per Conference team who best exemplifies the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.

Gallinero and freshman Brooke Hayes received 2023 AMC Competitive Cheer Academic All-Conference honors.

The Conference championship marks the end of the regular season for the Eutectics, who will continue to train for the NCA national championships in Florida on April 8-11.
