Cheer Competes at Nationals
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – The Eutectic Cheer Team travelled to Daytona Beach, Fla., to compete in the National Cheer Association (NCA) Collegiate Cheer Championship from April 9-11. The team made history as the first-ever UHSP athletic team to travel to compete at a national championship event.
The Eutectics competed twice at the championship event, improving their score significantly in their second routine. On Friday morning, the Eutectics took the floor for the prelims and finished with a raw score of 70.27 and a % Perfection score of 75.8241 to place fourth of five teams competing. In the finals on Saturday, which would account for 75% of their total event score, the team scored a 71.00 (raw) and 77.6389%.
Despite the Day 2 improvement, the UHSP team's total event score of 77.1852 placed fifth among the five teams competing in the Intermediate Small Coed NAIA division. The Eutectics were just behind the fourth-place finishers from Aquinas College's who scored 78.8194. Central Methodist University, who finished behind UHSP on Friday, improved their performance % by nearly eight points on Day 2 to move up into second place with a total of 80.3218. Morningside University won the division with 87.3704 total points.
The national championship trip closes the 2026 season for the Eutectics, who competed in five events prior to the trip to Florida.
