Bushue finishes as the top Eutectic at the season opening tournament
MARSHALL, MO – Missouri Valley claimed seven of the top 15 spots en route to an easy tournament title at their own fall invitational. The Vikings' Felipe Suarez won the individual tournament title with a 17-under-par 199, three strokes better than teammate Chad Coburn. William Woods' Spencer Worley finished one stoke behind Coburn in third. Brett Bushue was the top Eutectic in the field as he ended up tied for 64th with Julian Ayape (Missouri Valley) and Max Mask (Metropolitan CC) at 232, 16-over-par.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Bushue improved his standing by six spots with a final-round 75. He was tied for 70th after round two. Bushue had four birdies in the final round with three coming in a one-under-par back-nine. Bushue had eight birdies in the tournament.
- UHSP finished 16th out of the 17 teams in the tournament. They shot 955 for the tournament (+91), one stroke better than Central Methodist (B team). The Eutectics finished 35 strokes behind North Central Missouri (B team) who finished 15th.
- Connor Kosola and Cooper Thomas tied for 79th place with each other. They each shot a 242 (+26), but went about it different ways. Kosola went 85-81 through two rounds, but then turned in a 76 in his final round. He had a pair of birdies in each of the first two rounds, but had three in the final round including the final two holes. Kosola sat in 85th place through two rounds, but moved up six spots with that final-round 76. Thomas meanwhile had his best showing in round two with a 78. He was in 75th place through two rounds, birdieing the 212-yard par-3 14th hole in each of the first two rounds, his only holes under par. A final round 84 only cost him one spot in the standings and he again had one birdie in round three, the 278-yard par-4 5th hole.
- Will Turner went 83-82-79 and was consistent in all three rounds finishing tied for 82nd at 244 (+28). His only two birdies came on the back-nine in round one.
- Freshman Gavin Barbee tied Jacob Salas (Missouri Valley) for 88th place with a 253 (+37). He had five birdies in the tournament, three of which came in round two.

The Eutectics head west again at the end of the month when they head to Fulton, MO for the William Woods Fall Invitational on September 29-30. UHSP will have three fall tournament following that in the month of October.
