Eutectics finish ahead of four clubs and are led by Turner in Columbia

COLUMBIA, MO – William Woods outdistanced the field to win the Columbia Spring Invite. The host club was second, 24 strokes behind the Owls with Mineral Area finishing two behind the Cougars for third. Will Turner was the top golfer for UHSP and was tied for 38th at 157 (+15). The Eutectics as a team finished 13th out of the 17 teams, with LeMoyne-Owen 12 strokes behind UHSP and Columbia (B), State Fair and Hannibal-LaGrange (B) also trailing the Eutectics.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Spencer Worley (William Woods) won the tournament carding a 137 (-5). He was six strokes ahead of teammate Tim Faulk who finished second. Colin Pini (Mineral Area) was third at 144.
  • Turner ended the tournament with four birdies, three in round one.
  • Brett Bushue and Connor Kosola were part of a four-way tie for 52nd with a 163 (+21). Bushue had three birdies all on day one while Kosola posted one on each day.
  • Cooper Thomas was five strokes better in round one as he shot an 86 followed by a 91 to end up in a share of 72nd at 177 (+35).
  • Alex Chandler was 76th overall at 181 (+39). He carded an 89 on day one and a 92 on day two. He birdied the par-3 6th hole in round one.
  • Gunner Mahurin was 87th with a 223 (+81). He took seven strokes off his score from day one to day two.

Following the weekend, UHSP is the host team for their Spring Invitational at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, IL which takes place on Monday and Tuesday.
