Clark Named National Player of the Week

The College Rugby Association of America announced UHSP's Hunter Clark has been selected as the National Division IAA Player of the Week by 8x8 Sports and the Goff Report.

Clark's efforts on the pitch last Saturday helped lead the UHSP men's rugby team to its 28-17 upset victory over Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan. The junior Flanker from West Des Moines, Iowa, is the first Eutectic ever to be recognized with the national honor. He was a crucial part of the Eutectic victory, improving the program's record to 2-2 in its first season of competition at 15s.

"Hunter is an absolute beast on defense," said head UHSP coach Peter Lang. "He accounted for nearly half of our turnovers and assist on a really great team try. He always plays at such a high level that we hold him to a higher standard, and he always rises to meet that challenge."

After a rough start to the season, the Eutectics are turning heads with back-to-back wins in the Heart of America Conference in their first-ever season. They have three games left in the regular season, starting with the UHSP team travelling to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the University of Arkansas team on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m.
