Solid opening performance, but Eutectics can't pull off win

SPRINGFIELD, MO – UHSP opened their 2025 season with a number of new faces including a new head coach, but for Paul Anderson and the Eutectics, game one turned finished in a 1-0 loss to Evangel. The Valor scored just :43 seconds into the match when Caleb Kuchta created a  turnover in the UHSP defensive end and dribbled to the right side of the box. Being pressured, Kuchta delivered a centering pass all the way across the field and Hayes Van Breusegen belted it past UHSP netminder Christian Morales for the only goal of the game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS:

EVANGEL 1, UHSP 0

  • Morales was making his UHSP debut and after allowing a goal on the first shot he saw, he went perfect turning aside the other seven Valor shots.
  • Davide Marzoli improved to 2-0 in net for Evangel making saves on all three UHSP shots.
  • Ben Herrera, Sasha Postol and Steven Hulsey accounted for the three Eutectic shots on goal.
  • Each team was delivered one yellow card with Rishab Rajesh receiving one for the Euts early in the second half. Franco Cuevas was guilty of Evangel's late in the first half.
  • Evangel has beaten UHSP each of the last three seasons, the only meetings between the clubs.

NEXT UP:

The Eutectics (0-1) return to St. Louis for their home opener against Freed-Hardeman on Monday afternoon in Creve Couer at 3:00p. UHSP will be looking for their first-ever win over the Lions.
