Brett Bushue's pole vault school record leads to AMC Player of the Week award
ST. LOUIS, MO - UHSP's Brett Bushue was named the Player of the Week in track and field by the American Midwest Conference on Monday. Bushue was named the Field Athlete of the Week while Elias Neely of Missouri Baptist was selected as the Track Athlete of the Week finishing off the weekly dual award winners by the AMC in Men's Indoor Track and Field.
Brett Bushue set a new Eutectic record in the pole vault when he cleared the bar at 3.55m (11' 7.75"). Bushue was clean on three straight different heights leading up his try at 3.55m. He cleared the bar on his first attempt at that height to topple the previous UHSP record of 2.94m (9'7.75") set by Grant Crutcher in 2016. Bushue finished sixth overall out of 16 vaulters.
Bushue lands the fifth ever Player of the Week award for UHSP in Men's Track & Field. It is the first claimed by a Eutectic this season in Men's Track and the first since Nick Fiacco won the Field award from the AMC for the week of Apr. 15-21, 2024.
