Bushue Named Freshman of the Year as Eutectic Men Finish Seventh at AMC Championships

ELSAH, ILL. – Brett Bushue was named American Midwest Conference (AMC) Freshman of the Year, leading the Eutectics to a seventh-place finish at the AMC Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Principia College on Saturday. The UHSP team scored 28 points to edge out Williams Baptist University (Ark.) in eighth place (21 points) and finish just behind sixth-place Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.)(32 points). Columbia College (Mo.) won both the men's and women's team titles.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Bushue scored 18.75 for the Eutectics by winning the Pole Vault (3.75m/12'3.5"), taking second-place with a new personal-best mark in the High Jump (1.88m/6'2"), and running a leg of UHSP's sixth-place 4 x 400m Relay.
  • Ethan Arnoldi earned All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in the Pole Vault (3.45m/11'3.75") to score six points for UHSP.
  • The 4x400m Relay team of Bushue, Jared Morales, Jack Wolfe, and Kristofer St. Clair ran 4:01.15 to score three points for a sixth-place finish.
  • Jared Morales finished eighth of 16 in the 800m run with a time of 1:30.57 to score a point for UHSP.

NEXT UP:

The AMC Championships concludes the indoor season for most UHSP athletes except those who may wish to take one more shot at qualifying for the NAIA Championship meet, which is scheduled for Feb. 27-Mar. 1 in Gainesville, Fla. The last-chance meet will happen next Saturday, Feb. 22, at the John Gartland Invitational hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
