Eutectics Record 10 Top-10 Finishes at Dewey Allgood, Macon-Ford Sets New Record
ROLLA, MO. – The Eutectic men's and women's track and field teams changed up their schedule and took a shorter trip than originally planned on Saturday, travelling to Rolla, Mo., for the Dewey Allgood Invitational hosted by University of Missouri-Rolla. While no team scores were kept at the meet, the Eutectic women finished with 10 top-10 performances and Leah Macon-Ford set a new school record for the women's 400m dash in her first collegiate race at the distance.
MEET HIGHTLIGHTS:
WOMEN
- Short-sprint specialist Leah Macon-Ford debuted a new event on Saturday, running the 400m distance for the first time in her collegiate career. It only took the one time for the standout to set a new school record in the event at 59.95 seconds, breaking teammate Emerald Flores's record of 1:02.87 set earlier this season. Macon-Ford's time was good enough for 10th place of 19 runners at the meet.
- Macon-Ford, last week's AMC Track Athlete of the Week, also finished fourth of 29 sprinters in the 200m dash with a time of 25.13.
- Shamari Long focused solely on the javelin throw, bringing home the highest finish by a Eutectic at the meet: second of 21 throwers, with a mark of 37.89m (124'03").
- Last week's AMC Field Athlete of the Week Reece Halley claimed fifth place (of 23) in the discus throw at 37.04m (123'11").
- Arianna Buduan recorded two top-10 finishes in the jumps, finishing seventh of 16 in the high jump at 1.45m (4'9") and ninth (of 12) in the long jump (4.65m, 15'03.25").
- Other top-10 performances came from:
- Rylee Eng - sixth of 11 in the triple jump at 10.67m (35'00.25)
- Addison Plazek - eighth of 13 in the 400m hurdles (1:14.43)
- Hannah Nation - ninth (of 26) in the 1500m with a time of 5:17.35
- Taylor Shobe – 10th of 20 in the 100m hurdles (15.96)
MEN
- Kristofer St. Clair threw his personal-best mark in the hammer throw, now ranking him third in the Eutectic All-Time list in the event at 35.32m (115'10"). He also finished 15th (of 28) in the discus throw at 40.77m (133'09").
- Christopher Medlock ran a personal record in the 100m dash of 11.50 to finish 21st of 33 and move himself up to fourth on the Eutectic All-Time list.
- Amari Wiedemeier finished 15th of 27 runners in the 800m run with a time of 2:03.10.

The Eutectics will take next weekend off from competition in preparation for the AMC Championships held at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville on Wednesday, April 29. Five Eutectics currently hold the top marks in the Conference in their events heading into the championship meet: Leah Macon-Ford (100m, 200m, 400m), Shamari Long (javelin throw), Adison Plazek (400m hurdles), Brett Bushue (pole vault), and Evan McVey (long jump).
