Eutectics skid reaches seven as Missouri Valley sweeps UHSP
MARSHALL, MO – In what has become sort of a recurring theme, the Eutectics saw their opponent have much more success at the net offensively, played a competitive match but came up short in the end. That was again the case on Saturday as UHSP lost in straight sets to Missouri Valley, 25-19, 25-21, 25-13.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- The opening set was tied seven different times in the first 28 points before MVC went on a 7-2 run to take a 21-16 advantage. The Vikings used a kill and three UHSP errors to score the final four points to claim the set.
- The second set was tight for the duration, but the Eutectics never led, trailed by at most four (which happened only twice) as Missouri Valley had their lowest attack percentage of any of the three sets at .243 while UHSP had their best set at .143. But it still was not enough as the Vikings took a two sets to none lead.
- Early on, the third set resembled the second as it was tight early. With the Vikings up 8-4, UHSP scored four out of five on three MVC errors and a Cooper Hansen kill to close within one at 9-8. But MVC went on an 11-4 streak to put the set to bed grabbing a 20-12 lead. The Eutectics only scored one more point out of the next six as the Vikings improved to 10-0 all-time against the Eutectics.
