Werner Named Conference Defender of the Week
The Heart of America Athletic Conference (HEART) has announced UHSP's Cameron Werner as men's volleyball Defender of the Week for Mar. 17-23. The sophomore middle hitter becomes the fourth Eutectic men's volleyball player this season to be recognized with a Conference Player of the Week honor.
Werner had an impressive week for the Eutectics, posting 24 blocks over four matches to average 1.71 per set. He also contributed on offense, knocking down 1.79 kills per set.
Werner currently ranks fifth in the NAIA for Blocks per Set, averaging 1.17 so far this season with a total of 95 blocks. He also leads the UHSP team with 16 service aces.
It is Werner's first Conference Player of the Week nod. He joins teammates Grant Hoover (Attacker), RJ Dilks (Setter), and Xavier Gamayo (Defender), as recipients of the award this season.
Werner will be back on the court on Tuesday when the Eutectics host Missouri Valley College at 7 p.m. in the UHSP gymnasium.
