Noto and Macon-Ford land Player of the Week nods from AMC
ST. LOUIS, MO - The American Midwest Conference announced their weekly Players of the Week in the current active sports and Hunter Noto (Softball) and Leah Macon-Ford (Track and Field) were among the receipients for UHSP. It is the second straight week that Macon-Ford has been named Athlete of the Week by the conference.
On the diamond, the Eutectics opened the weekend going 2-2 at the Branson Bash in Branson, MO. Overall, Noto went 7-for-11 in the four games with two doubles with four runs scored and four runs driven in. Noto saved her best for last as she starred in the Eutectics' final game of the weekend. Against former AMC-foe William Woods, the UHSP shortstop put together a 5-for-5 day at the plate with a double and three RBI's. It was the first five-hit game by a Eutectic in four years and the five hits matches a UHSP record for the most hits by one player in a single game.
Noto is the third Eutectic in the sport of softball to receive a Player of the Week award. She joins Hallie Roper from last year and Emma Henley (2023).
In Track & Field, Macon Ford was named the Track Athlete of the Week for her first-place performances at the Jim Green Invite meet hosted by Illinois College on Saturday. Macon-Ford was dominant again in the Women's 60M Dash running near identical times in both her preliminary run and the finals (7.69 then 7.68). She posted the fastest prelim time and then bested her closest competition in the finals by just over a quarter of a second. Then in the Women's 4x200M Relay, Macon-Ford ran the final leg in a team comprised of Shamari Long, Mariah Scott, Emerald Flores that clocked in at 1:52.38 to not only win the event, but set a new UHSP record in the process.
It is the third time this year that Macon-Ford has been named Athlete of the Week by the AMC and seventh time overall in her career.
