Calmes and Kameoka Named to AMC All-Tournament Teams
BALLWIN, MO. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the baseball and softball All-Tournament Teams following the Conference championships in southern Missouri last week. UHSP baseball pitcher Tristan Calmes and softball second-baseman Eva Kameoka were recognized with a spot on each team.
Fresh off his National Player of the Week nod, Tristan Calmes pitched a full eight innings in the Eutectics' second game of the AMC baseball tournament in Branson, Mo., on April 28. The right-hander held the No. 2-seeded Mission University Patriots (Mo.)(30-23, 15-6 AMC) to just four hits in the game, nearly locking in a shutout with nine strikeouts, but finally gave up two runs in the eighth as the Patriots clinched the advancement to the next round with a 2-0 victory over UHSP.
Eva Kameoka was indispensable at second base for the Eutectics in their three games in the softball tournament in Springfield, Mo. She recroded nine putouts and three assists, including one double play, in 13 chances as UHSP went 1-3. In the 13-inning marathon game against Williams Baptist University (Ark.)(41-13, 17-1 AMC) Kameoka notched a critical double play and caught a line drive to hold the WBU Eagles to just two runs in their final at-bat. She also contributed at the plate, going 5-for-10, with one run, and a stolen base for the Eutectics.
The AMC baseball and softball tournaments marked the end of the spring seasons for the Eutectic teams. Both teams finished with records just shy of .500 as the baseball team was 21-22 overall (12-9 AMC) and softball broke the program record with 19 wins and 20 losses (7-11 AMC).
