Another record-book effort as Eutectics bury Pioneers

PARAGOULD, AR – It was another dominating performance for the Eutectics for the second straight game as they reached the .500 mark on the season with an 86-55 pounding of Crowley's Ridge on Thursday night. UHSP put six players in double figures led by 13 points from both Taylor Hitchcock and Alina Bowden and a double-double from both Aryanna Bull (10p, 15r) and Reece Halley (10p, 10r) as the Eutectics managed 25 more shots than the Pioneers and finished with the second-most rebounds in a single game in program history.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 86, CROWLEY'S RIDGE 55

  • After Crowley's Ridge grabbed their lone lead of the game at 5-4, UHSP embarked on a quarter-ending 16-2 run to lead 20-7 after one quarter. UHSP unloaded 26 shots with 25 rebounds in the first period, eight rebounds by Bull. The Pioneers were just 3-of-19 from the floor in the quarter (15.8%).
  • With 4:00 left in the second, Crowley's Ridge got to within ten at 31-21, but UHSP ripped off the next nine points to close the half with a 40-21 lead.
  • UHSP outscored CRC 24-18 in the third quarter as both teams shot it well (UHSP 46%, CRC 42%). Leading by 18, a mid-quarter mini 6-0 run by UHSP on buckets from Bowden, Hitchcock and Analyssa Maldonado ensured that the Eutectics led by 20 or more the rest of the way. It was 64-39 after three.
  • It was an anti-climactic final quarter. Seven different Eutectics scored as UHS outscored Crowley's Ridge 22-16.
  • Two days after matching a season-high with eight points against Cottey on Tuesday, Hitchcock set a new season-high with her 13 points. She went 6-for-11 from the field against CRC.
  • Reece Halley and Aryanna Bull each added ten points for the Eutectics as four of their starting five managed double figures. Analyssa Maldonado was the lone starter to finish outside of double digits, but she more than made up for finishing just shy of that mark with 11 rebounds and four assists. Halley added ten boards as three different Eutectics had double digits in rebounds.
  • Kyrsten Bake was one of three Pioneers in double figures as she finished with a team-leading 11 points. She also had a club-high 11 rebounds.
  • Arianna Buduan had 11 points, but more impressively six steals along with five boards. The six steals put her one shy and just outside the top-10 for most steals in a single game for the Eutectics. The 11 points were easily a season-high for her following four straight scoreless games. She was 4-of-10 from the field, but made half of her six three-point shots.
  • Sara Hameed also reached double digits for UHSP with ten points, her second-most this in a game this season.
  • The 69 rebounds by the Eutectics were second only to a 79-rebound effort against Lincoln Christian in 2013 for the most boards in a single game. It was the second time this season than UHSP reached 60+ rebounds in a game.
  • UHSP is 15th in the country in total rebounding averaging 45.4 per game. Cumberlands with 50.8 per game is tops in the nation. After 29 offensive rebounds against the Pioneers, the Eutectics are 10th in the land in offensive boards per game at 17.9. Olivet Nazarene leads the nation at 20.3 per game.
  • The 15 rebounds by Bull match the eighth-most in a single game in UHSP history. The all-time school record is 22.
  • UHSP just crushed the Pioneers on the glass with a 27-rebound edge, 69-42. UHSP had 20 more offensive rebounds than CRC's nine.
  • The Eutectics set a new program mark for most attempted field goals in a game going 36-of-94 (38.3%). The previous program mark was 83 against Baptist Bible on Feb. 7, 2004. The 36 made field goals are the third-most in program history behind games with 44 and 38. Crowley's Ridge went 23-for-69 (33.3%) from the floor.
  • The Eutectics came up with 17 steals to CRC's six. That tied the sixth-most for UHSP in a single game.
