Eutectics make it eight in a row over HLGU with convincing win

ST. LOUIS, MO – Arianna Buduan poured in a season-high 16 points as she led four Eutectics in double-figures as UHSP rolled past Hannibal-LaGrange 79-45 in an AMC contest on Thursday night. The Eutectics forced 32 Trojan turnovers which allowed UHSP 36 more field goal attempts than HLGU in a dominating win. Outrebounding the visitors by 18 aided to the disparity in the final score.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 79, HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE 45

  • HLGU led 14-13 after one quarter with Alina Bowden having seven of UHSP's points. Hannibal-LaGrange took just seven field goal attempts in the second quarter while the home club went seven-of-22 from the floor to outscore the Trojans 22-9 in the period to lead 35-23 at the half.
  • Following a 17-12 third quarter in favor of UHSP, Arianna Buduan poured in 11 points in the fourth quarter as UHSP ended all discussion outscoring HLGU 27-10 in the quarter. The Eutectics converted 11 field goals while HLGU made just four. UHSP took their largest lead of 36 late in the fourth quarter.
  • Aryanna Bull was UHSP's second-leading scorer with 15 points and added seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
  • Taylor Hitchcock continued a tremendous month with 14 points off the bench as she recorded a new season high. Hitchcock is averaging 9.6ppg over the last five games. She added three rebounds, four assists and five steals in the win.
  • Ainsley Diepenbrock led Hannibal-LaGrange with 15 points and nine rebounds. She also added four assists and two steals. Mykaela Elliott was the only other double-digit scorer for the Trojans with ten points before she fouled out.
  • Alina Bowden scored 13 points with three rebounds and three steals.
  • Reece Halley led the Eutectics with ten rebounds. She also had four points and two assists.
  • The 81 field goal attempts are tied for the sixth most in a single game by UHSP. It marks the fourth time this season that UHSP has recorded more than 80 shots in a game.
  • Neither team exactly lit it up from beyond the three-point line. UHSP was 8-for-28 (28.6%), but HLGU struggled at 13.3% making just two shots out of their 15.
  • UHSP dominated on the glass, outrebounding HLGU 50-32. The 50 rebounds tie for the third-most in a game by UHSP this season.
  • Hannibal-LaGrange turned it over a season-high 32 times while the Eutectics committed just 16. It is the second time this season that HLGU has had 30 or more turnovers in a game.
  • At now 5-1 in the American Midwest Conference, the Eutectics are one conference win shy of matching their 6-16 AMC mark from a year ago.
  • The 21 steals by the Eutectics are third all-time in program history for a single game.
  • UHSP improves to 15-11 all-time against HLGU and has won eight straight against the Trojans. Hannibal-LaGrange's last win over the Eutectics came on Jan. 15, 2022.

The Eutectics (8-8, 5-1 AMC) finish out the week on Saturday as they travel to Columbia, MO to meet Stephens (5-11, 4-2 AMC) at 1:00p. UHSP will try to snap a four-game skid against the Stars.
