Cold spell late costs Eutectics against Mission
SPRINGFIELD, MO – Mission salvaged the second meeting of their AMC series against UHSP with a 70-59 win on Saturday. The Eutectics led by three late in the third until Mission outscored the Purple and Gold 25-11 over the remaining 11:03 to come out with a win. The free throw line was the difference in the game at UHSP converted eight of their 11, but the Patriots knocked down 24 of their 31.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
MISSION 70, UHSP 59
- Mission jumped ahead 9-2 and built a 15-8 lead after one quarter as the Eutectics shot just 25% in the first quarter.
- Arianna Buduan had an electric second quarter as she scored UHSP's first 11 points in the quarter. She finished the quarter with 14 points as the Eutectics led 30-26 at the half.
- Alina Bowden scored 13 points in the third for UHSP as the two clubs traded leads throughout the quarter. With Mission leading 39-37, Bowden scored nine straight points for UHSP, all on threes.
- 2:15 into the fourth, Reece Halley converted a jumper than tied the game at 54-54. The Patriots outscored UHSP 16-5 the rest of the way.
- UHSP only had two players in double figures (Alina Bowden 18p, Arianna Buduan 16p).
- Ireland Jones' 16 points led the Patriots as all five Mission starters registered double-figures. Miya Nieto had 11 points.
- The Eutectics nailed nine threes in the game while the Patriots made just two.
- Mission won the rebound edge, 49-37 and forced UHSP into 25 turnovers while committing 17 of their own.
- The game offered six ties and ten lead changes.

UHSP (10-10, 7-3 AMC) is right back at it on Monday on the road at 5:30p against Cottey. Then Crowley's Ridge comes to town on Thursday as the Eutectics and Pioneers meet at 5:30p. UHSP took the first meeting from both the Pioneers and Comets and look to sweep the season series against both.
