UHSP 4th at WWU Invite; Sullivan finishes tied for 3rd

FULTON, MO - What a season opener for the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy's Women's Golf team. It was a dynamite showing for the team overall and for Addison Sullivan, one of the many newcomers to the team.

The club finished fourth overall out of eight teams in the field. Two clubs separated themselves from the pack as Park University claimed the team title shooting a 153 (+9) while Columbia finished 14 strokes behind the Pirates with a 167 (+23). No one else finished within 30 strokes of the Cougars as the other six teams were battling for third. Central Methodist managed to edge out the Eutectics by strokes with a 201 (+57) to UHSP's 203 (+59). UHSP finished 23 strokes clear of the 5th-place finishers, John A. Logan.

The Eutectics team was anchored by Addison Sullivan who was making her Eutectic debut as a freshman out of Mayfield, Kentucky. Sullivan carded back-to-back 74's for a 4-over-par 148. The earned a share of third with Columbia's duo of Ashlyn Sanders and Ellie Soderholm. Sulilvan was tied for sixth after day one with Viviana Boix (Columbia), but Biox shot a 12-over-par on day two to fall off the pace. Three other golfers who were ahead of Sullivan after the opening round also found trouble on day two to finish behind the UHSP rookie. Micaela Suhl (Park) however went 3-over to 6-under on day two to claim the overall title tying Anna Korsen (Park) at 141 overall. If not for the tremendous second day by Suhl, Sullivan could have tied for second overall.

Samantha Kasting was one of the returners from last year's team that debuted Women's Golf at UHSP as they enter Year Two. Kasting went 76/78 for a 10-over 154, finishing in 13th place along with Central Methodist's Chloe Fong. Ella Penke, another newcomer to the team after participating in Women's Lacrosse last year, ended up in a share for 18th with a 158 (+14). Caitlin Garlick was the only other returner along with Kasting and Garlick shot a 84 in round one, but had a tough second day with a 95 to end up in a tie for 34th (+35). Grace Wilkinson was four strokes behind Garlick in 37th place while Zoe Lopez was 47th (+51).

Sullivan will lead the Eutectics into their next tournament at the Central Methodist University Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, September 23-24.
