Addison Sullivan selected as top golfer by American Midwest Conf.
ST. LOUIS, MO - A fast start to her career has led to another UHSP first for Addison Sullivan. On Monday, she was named Golfer of the Week by the American Midwest Conference. The conference released their list of award winners and Sullivan landed the award as the AMC's top golfer for a third-place finish at the Missouri Valley Fall Invitational last Tuesday.
Sullivan was second overall in the field and only three shots off the lead after an opening round score of 78. After a 42 on the front-nine, the Mayfield (KY) product carded two birdies on the back-nine shooting one-under on the par-4 13th and 18th holes. Sullivan gave three strokes on the opening three holes of round two, but responded with pars in five of the next six holes. A 42 on the back-nine put her in the clubhouse at 82 for the second round and into third place in the overall standings, ten strokes behind the leader. Sullivan came out hot in round three as she birdied a pair on the front-nine, parred five of her final seven holes and hit the turn even at 36. She had carved three strokes off the deficit and sat seven behind the leader and was only three strokes away from second place. She managed two pars in the final nine and finished with an 80 on the day finishing 11 behind the leader in third place overall.
In their third season of existence, Sullivan becomes the first-ever Eutectic golfer (male or female) to be named Golfer of the Week in the AMC. She finished tied for third overall in her first collegiate event in her freshman season last year to begin her career.
