#2 Cumberlands has too much firepower for Eutectics
WILLIAMSBURG, KY – The Eutectics ran into the second-ranked team in the country on Saturday evening and it was Cumberlands that remained undefeated and walked away with a 20-2 win over UHSP. Allison Joines and Emma Rittman each recorded hat tricks for the third straight game with Rittman taking over the team lead with 25 goals on the season and Ashlee Baker piled up six assists in the contest, tied for seventh most assists in a single game in UC history.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
CUMBERLANDS 20, UHSP 2
- The Patriots saw Baker and Rittman score eight seconds apart to open the scoring as Baker scored just a minute into the game. Lenora DeVries and Kaitlyn Friel each had two goals in the first period as Cumberlands held a 9-0 lead after one quarter.
- It was 11-0 in the second, when Adriana Cain found Ella Penke with 2:46 left to mark the board for UHSP as Penke scored her sixth goal on the year. Christina Carter capped the first half scoring as the Pats led 12-1 at intermission.
- The third quarter saw Cumberlands add five more goals as five different players found the back of the net past UHSP keeper Brianna Dixon.
- Caeley Doran scored her first of the year just short of five minutes into the fourth as she beat UC netminder Mikayla Kimsey with a shot to make it 18-2.
- Cumberlands improved to 8-0 and has a showdown with the #1-ranked team in the nation Benedictine on Tuesday in Kentucky. It will be the first of four straight matches for the Patriots against Top-10 ranked teams as they will face numbers-6, 7 and 3 after the contest against Benedictine.
- Dixon managed five saves on 23 shots in net for UHSP. Izzy Lash played the last 11:16 for the Eutectics and it was fairly uneventful as she saw just two shots making saves on both.
- Kimsey made four saves on six shots for Cumberlands.
- Both team were fairly efficient in clear attempts as UHSP was 13-for-19 and Cumberlands was 17-of-20.
- The Patriots outshot the Eutectics 33-7.

It is a short turnaround for UHSP (1-3) as they make a short trip to Athens, TN to face Tennessee Wesleyan Sunday morning at 11:30a. The Eutectics downed the Bulldogs last year 11-9 in St. Louis.
