Euts open with win as Hildebrand and Rogers spark offense

CREVE COEUR, MO – The Eutectics opened their 2025 season on their home field, facing the Waldorf Warriors out of Iowa. Alexa Hildebrand had a goal and set up the eventual game-winner as UHSP prevailed in a 3-1 affair.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 3, WALDORF 1

  • Rachel Harris opened the scoring with 17:51 left in the first half. Bayleigh Colianno dribbled around in the right corner of the 18-yard box and left a centering pass toward Harris. Harris did not have any kind of an angle and elected to try a shot that stayed low and ended up as a seeing-eye shot eluding legs and finding its way past Waldorf keeper AbbieGail Michael. Harris is returning to the Eutectics after missing all of last season and dealing with three recent ACL injuries.
  • The Eutectics dominated play and time of possession through the first 30 minutes of the first half, but the Warriors were able to find some offensive possession late in the half.
  • Olivia Cross tied the game with her first of the season 13:29 into the second stanza. She shot from a wide angle unloading a high shot from outside the right side of the 18-yard box. With UHSP keeper Dani Nether guarding the near post, the ball floated well over her head and into the far side of the net.
  • Izzy Rogers put the Eutectics ahead with just under 18 and a half minutes left. Rogers took a pass from Hildebrand and with pressure on her in the middle of the box, was able to turn and get a shot away, but she was not able to get everything on it. Mia Ramirez, the Waldorf keeper who came on at the half, was off-balance and ended up trying to crawl to chase down the slow roller that was able to cross the goal line.
  • Rogers gave UHSP a two-goal lead with 9:16 left when she took a pass just beyond midfield and made a 45-yard run against a lone defender to eventually come in from the left flank and push one past Ramirez for her second goal of the game. In just her second season with the Eutectics, Rogers now has ten career goals which puts her fourth all-time in UHSP history.
  • UHSP outshot Waldorf, 35-4. The 35 shots are the fifth-most the Eutectics have ever had in a single game.
  • Dani Nether picked up the win in net for the Eutectics and needed to make just one save.
  • Ramirez ended up making eight save in goal for Waldorf, but suffered the loss (0-2).
  • UHSP won their season opener for the first time since 2020 when they blanked St. Mary of the Woods, 5-0.
