Record setting day as UHSP rolls past Central Baptist

CONWAY, AR – It turned out to be a banner day for the Eutectics women's soccer team on Saturday as they set or tied three different records as part of a 6-1 victory over Central Baptist. Izzy Rogers netted two goals to become the new all-time career scoring leader in program history. She now has 11 goals this season which also sets a new school record for goals in a single season. Lyla Stegmann recorded a hat trick in the contest, the fifth-ever Eutectic to score three or more goals in a game. The win improves the Eutectics to 6-2 on the year with the six wins matching the program record for most-ever wins in a single campaign, reached twice prior to this year.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 6, CENTRAL BAPTIST 1

  • Rogers put the Eutectics on the board just 6:16 into the game as she pushed one past CBC keeper Rebecca Vandenburg for an unassisted goal. Rogers would score the record breaker with just under seven minutes left in the half as Rylee Mirth set her up for the historic goal. Rogers's 19th career goal sees her pass Christina Arackal (2014-2018) who finished her career with 18 goal. Rogers's 11th goal of the year also pushed her past both Arackal (2017) and Jordyn Besserman (2021) who each had the program record for single-season goals with ten.
  • Stegmann began her path to a hat trick with her first goal 15 minutes after Rogers' first tally. Bayleigh Colianno assisted on the goal to make it 2-0. Stegmann added a pair of unassisted goals later, one midway through the first half and the final goal 18 minutes into the second half to put UHSP on top 5-1. She entered the game with three goals on the season and doubled that total on the day.
  • Campbell Slemmer capped the scoring for UHSP as she scored her second on the year in the 80th minute unassisted.
  • Peyton Siebenmann notched the lone goal for the Mustangs three-and-a-half minutes after Stegmann's first goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the time.
  • UHSP outshot CBC 20-3 with 15 of those Eutectic shots being on target. All three Mustang shots were on goal.
  • Vandenburg played just 35 minutes for Central Baptist and took the loss (0-5) making three saves and allowing three goals. Avery Mulloy finished the game in net for CBC allowing three goals, but making twice as many saves.
  • Dani Nether (6-1) got the start in the cage for the Eutectics and allowed the lone goal while making one save. She gave way for Susan Bradford in the 57th minute as Bradford made a save on the only shot she faced.
