Hat trick vs Central Baptist nets Stegmann more than just a win

ST. LOUIS, MO - On the heels of her first collegiate hat trick, UHSP's Lyla Stegmann on Monday was named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the American Midwest Conference for Sept 29-Oct 5. Stegmann scored three times as part of Saturday's 6-1 win over Central Baptist in the AMC opener for both clubs.

Stegmann entered the contest with just three goals in the first seven games this year, but doubled that output against the Mustangs. Those three goals came on six shots by the UHSP freshman, five of which were on target. It is the first Player of the Week award for the Eutectics this season after they claimed the award three times last year.

The Arnold, MO native notched her second career hat trick dating back to the start of her high school career. Playing with the Fox Warriors, Stegmann's only high school hat trick came against Maplewood-Richmond Heights on April 17, 2024 in her senior season. She had 32 goals in four seasons with the Warriors.

The offensive output by Stegmann in the win over the Mustangs pushed the Eutectics to 6-2 on the season, matching a program record for most wins in a single season. UHSP can surpass that six win total in their next contest, a noon date on Saturday at Columbia.

In the same announcement by the AMC, Taylor Kolinski of Harris-Stowe was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
