Not a win, but Eutectics get first-ever tie against Harris-Stowe

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – The Eutectics have had a knack of responding throughout the year when they fall behind. That composure was on display again on Wednesday afternoon in an AMC match against fellow St. Louis-resident Harris-Stowe. The Eutectics and Hornets battled a 1-1 tie.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 1, HARRIS-STOWE 1

  • Ana Bernardo put the Hornets on the board with her second of the season in the 20th minute with Katharina Salomon getting the assist.
  • Lyla Stegmann scored the Eutectics first goal against Harris-Stowe since October 2, 2015. Rylee Mirth found Stegmann for her tenth of the season. Stegmann has been on an absolute scoring binge lately. She has scored in six of the Eutectics' last seven games and is just two goals behind the team leader in scoring.
  • The steady wind made getting scoring chances difficult as the two clubs combined to have just 22 shots in the game (HSSU 12, UHSP 10) and just seven total shots on goal (4-3, HSSU).
  • The Eutectics had decent chances at either end of the second half. Izzy Rogers had three straight corner kicks in a 61-second span just two minutes into the second half, but could only manage one shot by Caroline Crull that was saved. With 11 minutes left in the game, UHSP had three shots towards the Hornets' cage, but Alexa Hildebrand sent one wide and Stegmann missed one high while another was blocked.
  • While not a win, the Eutectics entered today having never beaten or tying Harris-Stowe. The Hornets were 12-0 all-time against UHSP and the Eutectics had been blanked in the last ten straight head-to-head. HSSU had outscored UHSP 55-2 all-time prior to today's 1-1 tie.
  • Dani Nether got the call in net for the Eutectics and made three saves. Her counterpart, Alexandra Forcelius, made two.
