Evangel defeats both UHSP's men and women
Despite being strong in #1 and #2 singles in both the men's and women's division, the Eutectics suffered a pair of team defeats on Saturday at the hands of Evangel University.
Angela Meaurio was the lone Eutectic to post a victory as the UHSP women fell to the Valor, 6-1. Playing in the top singles spot, Meaurio defeated Abigai Chaney, 6-3, 6-2. Rachel Chaney posted a pair of 6-3 set wins over Erin Davis in #2 singles. Ainsley Fortschneider and Charlie Dunajcik each fell by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Davis and Meaurio teamed up on the top Eutectics doubles team and fell 6-2 to Chaney and Chaney. Meanwhile, Fortschneider and Dunajcik lost 6-1 to Lola Federski and Maddeline Peters. The UHSP women would have had to sweep every match to earn a win as they entered the contest forfeiting three slots: #5 and #6 singles and #3 doubles.
On the men's side, Alvaro Montijano forced a first set tiebreak against Mihajlo Milosavlljevic. The top Evangel player prevailed 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Caden Hillman on the Eutectics' #2 line dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Emilio Chavarria. Gavin Brown fell 6-1, 6-0 to Etienne Bouche and James Bamberger was beaten by Gabriel Leal, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, Bamberger and Montijano also pressed the top Valor squad to a tiebreak. Milosavlljevic and Bouche would come out on top, 7-6 (7-1). Hillman and Brown fell to Leal and James McIlwraith, 6-3. The Eutectics were also open on the men's side in #5 and #6 singles and #3 doubles.
