Meaurio solid again, but Greenville tops UHSP
In search of their first win of the season, the UHSP Eutectics traveled to Greenville, IL to meet the Panthers who were in search of their fifth win of the season. The Purple and Gold got a dominating performance out of their top performer in Angela Meaurio as she won both her matches, but those were the only wins for the Eutectics in a 7-2 defeat.
In singles action, Meaurio took out Mireia Birosta 6-1, 6-3. But as usual, with the Eutectics only featuring four players and knowing they would forfeit three spots, they could only afford to lose at one position if they were going to pull out a win otherwise the opponent would take the match. It puts the Eutectics in a tough position each time out. Erin Davis, Ainsley Fortschneider and Charlie Dunajcik each dropped their singles matches against their Panther opponent. Davis fell to Addison Brannan, 6-4, 6-4, Callie Adkins defeated Fortschneider, 6-2, 6-0 and Callie Adkins held off Dunajcik, 6-4, 6-0.
On the doubles side, Meaurio and Davis got a convincing win in the top slot besting Birosta and Brannan, 8-2. Greenville's Stephanie Kamp and Emily Buratovich downed Fortschneider and Dunajcik, 8-3.
It is a busy close to the week for UHSP as they play Thursday at Lewis & Clark and then Friday and Saturday in Siloam Springs, AR. Friday they meet John Brown University and then Saturday play the College of the Ozarks.
