Macon-Ford Wins, Long and McVey Break Records at SLU Meets
ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Eutectic men's and women's track and field teams competed in two days of competition hosted by Saint Louis University on Friday and Saturday. The weekend was highlighted by two wins from Leah Macon-Ford (100m dash) and record-breaking performances by Shamari Long (javelin) and Evan McVey (100m dash). Teams of all different levels, including many NCAA Division I teams, competed both days with the hosting SLU Billikens claiming top honors both days for both the men and women.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
WOMEN
SLU SPEED/POWER FESTIVAL (FRIDAY) – 12TH OF 17
BILLIKEN INVITATIONAL (SATURDAY) – 7TH OF 17
- Leah Macon-Ford beat out all competitors in the 100m dash on both days. On Friday, she finished first of 22 sprinters in the event with a time of 12.04 seconds. She returned Saturday and improved her time to 11.91 and beat out 27 individuals. Macon-Ford and the second-place finisher from Bradley University were the only competitors to run sub-12 seconds in the event.
- Macon-Ford finished second of 26 entrants in the 200m dash on Saturday with a wind-aided time of 25.07.
- Shamari Long broke her own UHSP record in the javelin throw by 8.5 inches to finish fourth of 22 throwers at the meet on Saturday with a toss of 38.51m (34'10.5").
- Arianna Buduan tied for third place (of 12) in the high jump, clearing 1.47m (4'9.75").
- Abby Baxter ran a personal record in the 3,000m steeple chase of 13:36.02 to finish fourth and score five points.
- Rylee Eng finished eighth (of 21) in the long jump on Friday with a leap of 4.85m (15'11"). She then finished seventh of 19 in the triple jump on Saturday with a new season-best mark of 10.63m (34'10.5").
- Adison Plazek ran a personal-best time of 16.88 seconds in the 100m hurdles to finish sixth of 17 hurdlers on Saturday. Mariah Scott finished just behind Plazek to score in seventh place with a time of 17.39. Plazek also scored in Saturday's 400m hurdles event with an eighth-place finish (of 12) at 1:11.96.
- The 4x100m relay team of Long, Taylor Shobe, Scott, and Macon-Ford ran under 51 seconds for their best time so far this season and the third-best in Eutectic history of 50.69 for third place (of 7).
MEN
SLU SPEED/POWER FESTIVAL (FRIDAY) – 13TH OF 18
BILLIKEN INVITATIONAL (SATURDAY) – 13TH OF 21
- Evan McVey broke his own school record by .01 seconds in the 100m dash with the exact same time both days. With a time of 10.97 seconds, he finished fourth of 34 on Friday, then took sixth of 63 sprinters competing on Saturday.
- Jack Wolfe scored six points in the 3,000m steeple chase with a PR time of 10:57.17.
- Kristopher St. Clair hit a personal-best of 12.65m (41'06") in the shot put on Friday to finish eighth of 19 throwers.

The Eutectics will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the Joey Haines Invitational hosted by Southeast Missouri State University on Friday and Saturday, April 3-4.
