Macon-Ford Qualifies for Nationals, Eutectics Shine at Greenville Select Meet
GREENVILLE, ILL. – The Eutectic men's and women's track and field teams spent Saturday at the non-scoring Greenville University Select meet. UHSP sprinting standout Leah Macon-Ford won and set school records in the 100 and 200m dash events, qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor Championships and setting a meet record in the 100m in the process. Thrower Reece Halley won the discus throw, and Emerald Flores (400m) and Kristofer St. Clair (discus throw) both set program records as the UHSP teams returned to campus with four new school records and 22 personal records at the meet.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
WOMEN
- Leah Macon-Ford punched her ticket to the NAIA Outdoor Championships, held in Asheville, N.C. May 20-22, winning the 100m dash with a school and meet record time of 11.83 seconds.
- Macon-Ford also won the 200m, beating out 34 other sprinters, with a new program record of 24.78 – just .29 seconds off the national qualifying time. She broke her previous school record of 25.04 set at least season's 2025 AMC Championships. Macon-Ford currently holds the top times in the Conference in the 100m and 200m events.
- Reece Halley finished first, ahead of 30 other throwers at the meet, in the discus throw. Her toss of 38.40m (126'0") is her personal best mark in the event and puts her at number-two in the Conference so far and also second in the Eutectic Top-Five list of discus throwers.
- Emerald Flores broke the Eutectic 400m dash record of 1:03.62 set in 2023 by Alyssa McPike. Flores' new record time of 1:02.87 was good enough for 17th place at the meet.
- Shamari Long tied her own UHSP record of 38.51m (126'04") in the javelin throw to finish fourth of 33 throwers. She also contributed a top-10 finish in the 100m dash with a time of 12.98 and a new personal-best time of 26.46 in the 200m dash for 12th place. Long currently leads the AMC in the javelin and ranks fourth and third in the 100 and 200.
- Hannah Nation finished eighth (of 14) in the 5,000m run with a new PR time of 19:31.18.
- Adison Plazek recorded two top-10 finishes in the hurdle events. She finished seventh (of 16) in the 100m hurdles at a PR of 16.64. Teammate Mariah Scott finished just behind her in eighth place at 16.81. Plazek also finished 10th in the 400m hurdles at 1:13.88.
MEN
- Kristofer St. Clair broke his own school record in the discus throw with mark of 41.26m (13-'05") – 10 inches further than his previous record – to finish eighth of 38 throwers in the event.
- Evan McVey finished fourth of 34 in the long jump with a new personal-best distance of 6.59m (21'07.5"). He currently leads the Conference performance list with the mark and is the second-longest jumper in Eutectic history.
- Brett Bushue finished seventh of 24 high jumpers at the meet, clearing the bar at 1.75m (5'08.75").
- Jack Wolfe put in a top-10 performance at the meet, finishing sixth (of 13) in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:18.86.
