Long Named AMC Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced UHSP senior Shamari Long as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week for April 13-19.

Long competed in the javelin throw at the Dewey Allgood Invitational hosted by University of Missouri-Rolla on Saturday. She had the highest finish by a Eutectic athlete at the meet, claiming second place of 21 throwers competing in the event with a toss of 37.89m (124'03").

With a season-best mark of 38.51m (126'04"), Long currently leads the AMC performance list by more than 3.5 meters heading into the Conference championships on April 29.

This is Long's second AMC Athlete of the Week honor this season, having won the honor on March 30th, as well.
