Brinson lands third career AMC Player of the Week award
ST. LOUIS, MO - The American Midwest Conference announced their volleyball Players of the Week for the third week of the season and UHSP's Jenna Brinson was selected as the Setter of the Week.
Brinson is in the midst of her final season with the Eutectics and is trying to chase down the all-time record for career assists. In two games last week, Brinson added 55 assists to her career total as she had 32 assists in a four-set road loss at Webster followed by 23 assists in UHSP's home opener against Brescia. She now has 20 assists or more in all but one of the Eutectics' first seven matches on the season. Brinson added 14 digs and a pair of service aces in those two matches.
For Brinson, it marks her third AMC Player of the Week award in her career. It is the 13th time overall that UHSP has claimed a PotW award. On the season, Brinson sits at 196 assists through seven matches. She is now 525 assists shy of tying the all-time UHSP career assist mark of 2,148 held by Kaitlyn LaBoube.
UHSP is idle until this weekend when they host the 8-team Eutectics Classic beginning on Friday. UHSP will play four matches over that stretch and then begin conference play next Tuesday, September 16, when they travel to Hannibal-LaGrange.
Amiyah Saxton and Mallory Hollis, both of Crowley's Ridge, were named the AMC Attacker and Defender of the Week respectively to round out the weekly conference awards.
