Nation Leads Eutectic Women at Redhawk Invite
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. – The Eutectic women's cross country team finished in 10th place at the season-opening Redhawk Invite hosted by Southeast Missouri State University on Friday evening. The competition at the meet was stiff, including seven NCAA Division I teams racing with Missouri State picking up top honors.
Freshman Hannah Nation made her collegiate debut at the meet, becoming the eighth-fastest Eutectic woman in history for the 5K distance, clocking in at 20:46 for 70th place of 105 runners.
In her second season of UHSP cross country, Ellie Creasey ran a personal-best time of 23:11 as the second Eutectic to cross the finish line in the women's race. Sophomores Layla Aguilar and Karlea Frey, along with junior Charlie Dunajcik, accounted for the rest of the Eutectic points.
Newcomers Elliott Perry and Armari Wiedemeier competed for UHSP in the men's race, recording their first collegiate 5K times. Perry led the two, placing 80th with a time of 19:42.
The Eutectics will take next weekend off from competition before heading to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Larry Young Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12.
