Women Finish Second, Wolfe and Nation Medal at Mikayla Sherrill Fall Classic

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Eutectic cross country teams hosted the annual Mikayla Sherrill Fall Classic cross country invitational on Saturday in Willmore Park in St. Louis. The event features both high school and collegiate races and was renamed in 2024 to honor the memory of former Eutectic cross country athlete Mikayla Sherrill.

The Eutectic women's team finished second of three collegiate teams participating, beating out Hannibal-LaGrange College and coming in behind winner College of the Ozarks. The UHSP team was led by freshman Hannah Nation, who finished sixth of the 25 runners who finished. Coming off of her American Midwest Conference (AMC) Runner of the Week honor, Nation improved on her personal best at the meet, crossing the finish line at 20:34 for the 5K race.

Ellie Creasey finished just out of the medals with a 12th-place finish at 22:06 and Abby Baxter was 16th at 24:22. Whitney Auguste was the fourth Eutectic in 18th place and Layla Aguilar was the final Eutectic to score in 20th place with a new personal best performance. Karlea Frey (who also ran a PR), Charlie Dunajcik, and Sage Williamson also competed for the Eutectics. Eutectic alumna Allison Wakeland, ran unattached, finishing second with a time of 19:38.

On the men's side, fresh from his first AMC RoW honor, Jack Wolfe led the Eutectic group of four (just one short of scoring as a team), blasting his previous personal best in the 8K distance by 40 seconds. His time of 28:19 landed him a spot in the Eutectic Top-10 as the eighth-fastest 8K runner in history. It also earned him a sixth-place (of 26 runners) at the meet.

All of Wolfe's competing UHSP teammates also ran PRs in the men's 8K race on Saturday: Elliott Perry finished 14th, Amari Wiedemeier was 16th, and Jared Morales was 24th. College of the Ozarks was the winning team for the men's race.

The Eutectics will rest this coming week in preparation for hosting the AMC Championships on Thursday, Nov. 6th, on the same course at Willmore Park.
