Scots start quick and shutout Eutectics

CREVE COEUR, MO – The Eutectics saw their losing skid reach five as the Monmouth Scots blanked UHSP 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon. Owen Murray continued a hot scoring streak as he notched a goal and a pair of helpers to send the Scots to their third win of the year.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

MONMOUTH 6, UHSP 0

  • Owen Murray scored in the third straight game for the Scots as he opened the scoring 4:11 into the contest. It was his fifth of the year.
  • Seven-and-a-half into the game, Murray was on the assisting end of a goal by Logan Corgan as Monmouth made it 2-0 on Corgan's first of the season.
  • Chase Sims and Justin Barrett hooked up for a beautiful game with 11:09 remaining in the first half. It was Barrett's first of the season.
  • Murray continued a torrid streak as he notched another assist as he set up Parker Davis who blasted one past UHSP keeper Christian Morales from the corner of the 18-yard box for Davis' first goal of the season and a 4-0 MC lead.
  • Luia Villa came off in the 61st minute after starting in net for Monmouth and picking up the win (3-2-1). Villa did not face a shot on goal during his time in the cage.
  • Despite taking the loss, UHSP starting netminder Christian Morales was sensational again in net making 14 saves. He saved a number of point-blank shots including a shot-rebound-shot sequence against Aimilios Ioannou who was in all alone.
  • Ian Rowland found the back of the net for the first time this season with 14:36 left as he came in from the right wing and rifled one past Morales for a 5-0 Scots lead.
  • Treyton Yi capped the scoring with a rocket from outside the corner of the 18-yard box and buried it into the opposite side of the cage. Koby Bodner got the assist.
  • Monmouth controlled things in the offensive end and outshot USHP 29-6 including 20-1 in shots on goal.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between UHSP and Monmouth.

The Eutectics (1-7) are on the road for four of the next five. They will play at Greenville (1-2-1) on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00p in their next contest.
