Lions come back to win both games against UHSP, including walk-off in G2
DAYTON, TN – It was a tough Saturday afternoon for the Eutectics as they ended up dropping both games against Bryan. The Lions got two runs in the fifth in game one to grab the lead as they won 8-4. The second game was a pitcher's duel as UHSP led 1-0 into the bottom of the seventh. Anna Lucas could not finish it out as the Lions walked it off on a two-out RBI hit from Juliana Santillan.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
BRYAN 8, UHSP 4
- The Eutectics fell behind 3-0 as the Lions got two in the first and one in the third. UHSP came through and took a 4-3 lead scoring four runs in the fourth. Alicia Kimble and Hallie Roper each delivered two-run singles.
- Bryan tied it with an RBI single in the fourth by Savanna Schaffer to make it 4-4.
- The Lions added a pair of RBI singles in the fifth to take a 6-4 advantage. Emma Henley finished the fifth before she was lifted. She took the loss (1-2) allowing six runs, five earned over a dozen hits.
- A two-run sixth by Bryan capped the scoring as the Lions scored on a sac fly and a passed ball. Trysten Murphy tossed the sixth for UHSP as she allowed those two runs on two hits and walked two.
- Averi Glosemeyer and Sydney Hinojosa had the lone multi-hit games by a Eutectic as they each went 2-for-4.
- Maddie Lee (1-4) earned the win for Bryan as she went the distance giving up the four runs on nine hits. She walked and struck out three.
- With runners in scoring position, the Lions were 7-of-16 while UHSP was 2-for-8
BRYAN 2, UHSP 1
- The game was scoreless into the fifth when the Eutectics plated a run on a single from Alicia Kimble. That drove in Payton McClellan who had singled and stolen second.
- It was a tough-luck loss for Anna Lucas (2-1). She was sensational through six frames having scattered six hits. Ava Saul led off the seventh with a pinch-hit single. Then Kaycee Baldwin tied the game with a pinch-hit triple and it was 1-1. Three batters later, Juliana Santillan delivered an RBI single to drive home Baldwin and give Bryan a walk-off 2-1 win.
- KP Smith (3-3) got the win throwing all seven innings. The run she allowed came on five hits as she struck out four.
- Averi Glosemeyer went 2-for-3 and had four hits on the day.
