Eutectics Grab Two Wins to Start Final Regular Season Series

LAWRENCE, KS – The Eutectics delivered a strong showing on the road at Haskell Indian Nations University, sweeping the doubleheader over Haskell softball. UHSP used power and timely hitting in game one before riding a dominant pitching performance in game two to complete the sweep.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 6, HASKELL 4

  • The Indians opened the scoring with two in the first, thanks to an RBI double and an RBI groundout.
  • Trysten Murphy led the way with a double and a home run, accounting for seven total bases. She tied the game in the fourth with a two-run homer, her third of the season.
  • HINU took a 3-2 lead on RBI double in the bottom of the fourth, but Avery Glosemeyer tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth with an RBI single.
  • Sydney Hinojosa's leadoff solo home run in the sixth put UHSP in front for good at 4-3 as it started a three-run frame. Alicia Kimble and Hunter Noto went back-to-back with RBI hits to extend the lead to 6-3. For Hinojosa, it was her first homerun of the season after missing all of last year with an injury. She finished with five total bases in the win. Kimble went 2-for-5 with a double and helped set the table at the top of the lineup.
  • The Eutectics combined for 21 total bases in the game, totaling four extra-base hits, including two home runs and two doubles.
  • Anna Lucas earned the win, throwing 55 strikes on 81 pitches going the first six innings while facing 23 batters. The freshman is now 5-7 on the year.
  • UHSP pitching limited Haskell to just five hits with two extra-base hits in the game.

  • The Eutectics recorded five hits spread across the lineup in a balanced offensive effort. They did most of their damage in a three-run third. Ryleigh Davidson singled in a pair with a base-hit to center. Elizabeth Trosper followed with a line drive to center to score Davidson and make it 3-0. The only other run in the game scored in the fourth on a wild pitch as UHSP manufactured runs without a home run, relying on situational hitting throughout.
