Eutectics can't recover from slow start against Mission

SPRINGFIELD, MO – UHSP saw their losing skid reach ten as they fell to Mission on Saturday, 99-18. The Patriots built a 56-38 halftime lead as they shot 58% from the floor and nailed seven first-half threes. UHSP spoiled a season-high 33 point-performance from Landon Engelage who was one of three Eutectics in double figures. He added a team-high 13 rebounds.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

MISSION 99, UHSP 81

  • UHSP did not score their first points until an Engelage layup 3:28 into the game. Mission led 15-0 up that point as UHSP played catch-up the rest of the way. Brennen Walker converted a layup that cut the margin to single-digits at 19-11. The Patriots led by 18 at the half. The Patriots went on a 13-4 run in the middle of the second half to extend the lead to 77-52.
  • The Patriots shot 55.2% for the game, but connected on ten three-point shots. UHSP shot at 44.7% and made just four triples. The Eutectics shot 40% or better from the floor for the third straight game and 10 of their last 11.
  • Brennen Walker scored 17 points for the Eutectics and had five rebounds, three assists and three blocks. David Moore added 13 points and four steals.
  • All five Mission starters finished in double-figures, led by Jamarian Cato who had 23 points, six boards, three assists and three steals. Jordyn Turner and Justin Gill each had 17 points.
  • Mission sweeps the series against the Eutectics and is now 13-4 against UHSP.

NEXT UP:

The Eutectics (3-18, 0-8 AMC) will try to snap their ten-game skid on Thursday when they host Crowley's Ridge at 7:30p. Engelage scored 25 points in a 72-67 loss to the Pioneers the last time these met on January 8.
